Music and Arts coming to YWCA [Atlantic+3rd Ave]

I just noticed some new banner on the YWCA building and now it’s confirmed that they’ve secured a renter for the location – Roulette Intermedium Inc.
Interestingly, the article points out other possible tenants that scoped the place: “Duane Reade, McDonald’s and a BBQ restaurant; along with gourmet stores, medical groups and even a Buddhist organization”.

“Gourmet stores” would have been nice; There’s nowhere to fucking shop around here!

Will Tiffani Amber Thiessen [of White Collar] be on State St?

The show White Collar, which I’ve never heard of, is monopolizing State St. between 3rd and Flatbush Wednesday and Thursday. What does interest me, however, is that Tiffani Amber Thiessen just might be there.

Overheard in Boerum Hill

Mom: Can you say “hi” to daddy?
Child: Hi, daddy!
Dad, gruffly: Can you please look at daddy when you say hi to me?

A Gentile Yuppie: I once dated a Rabbi’s daughter, in the Hamptons. I went to a family barbeque, and he asked me, ‘Do you want cheese on your hamburger?’ and I thought, ‘Ah–this is a moment of truth–one of those key moments in a relationship, where the family will judge me–what should I say?’ and I said, ‘Yes, I would’–and then the Rabbi responded, ‘Great! Then Cheese for Everybody!’”

20-something woman: You’re going to worship my mother when you meet her.
Man: I will?
Woman: Yes. Because I do.

Woman at counter: Um….
Man: That’s okay. I’ll take door number two!

The Boerum Hill Chapter of The Robert Burns Society

The Boerum Hill Chapter of the Robbie Burns Society kicked off its third annual party this Saturday, January 30th, 2010 going bigger and better than ever. From its inception in 2008, the Boerum Hill Burns Night has over trebled in size. In accordance with its tradition of serving any man, woman, or child who wishes to attend, the Boerum Hill Burns Night this year orchestrated a fully Scottish sit-down dinner for over 100 people plus a wide variety of live performances—all in a one-bed apartment.”
